How licensing works

Every edition is the same program; the signed licence from MET’s server decides the edition.

Do I own or rent the licence?+

Both. Listed prices are perpetual licences you keep for good, with the first year of maintenance (MA) included. Annual subscriptions include every update while active.

Do updates cost extra?+

Every new version is free while MA is active. After MA ends you keep using your last version and can renew MA later.

How do I upgrade editions?+

Pay only the price difference. The key stays the same and the app switches edition at its next licence check or restart.

Who is MECHCAD Lite for?+

Lite is for personal use and small businesses under USD 50k annual revenue (self-declared at checkout): ฿3,490 ($99) a year for one computer. It uses the same installer as the other editions, and you can upgrade to Standard later on the same key.

What happens when the trial ends?+

MECHCAD keeps opening as a free viewer: you can view MECHCAD, SolidWorks and Alibre files, but not save or export until you choose Lite, Standard or a higher edition.

How long is the trial?+

Thirty days of full Premium, started from the Welcome screen in the app (once per computer and per e-mail).

Per person or per computer?+

One seat runs on one computer at a time, activated online against MET’s licence server. Contact MET to move a seat. Network (floating) seats for teams are +25%.

I downloaded the trial — how do I pay?+

The installer is a free download. Buy a licence key from MET (online on this page or by quotation) and enter it on the Welcome screen; no reinstall needed.
