What it does
Checks how a mechanism moves by dragging parts in the view. Parts move according to their mates. Fixed parts do not move.
Where to find it
Assembly › Interaction › Drag Part (on by default), Drag, Mate move, Min Motion
| Action (Drag Part on) | Result |
|---|---|
| Drag a part with the left button | Moves it according to its mates. |
| Shift + drag | Rotates the part (or the whole sub-assembly) about the mate axis or its centre. |
| Ctrl + drag | Copies the part, then drags the copy. |
| Drag on empty space | Draws a selection box. |
| Esc | Cancels the drag. |
| Option | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Drag Part | On | Turn off to prevent accidental movement (left-drag then pans the view). |
| Drag | 0.50 | Drag sensitivity (0.05–20). A lower value gives finer control. |
| Mate move | 1.00 × | Speed at which a part slides into its mate position (0.01×–5×). |
| Min Motion | On | Keeps other parts moving as little as possible. Off = Max Motion, which lets the mechanism follow the cursor more freely. |
Note: A part locked with Fastened, or inside a fixed sub-assembly, cannot be rotated, and a message appears. You can enter exact positions in the Properties panel › Instance Placement.
