Recognize Features (Convert an Imported Part to Features)

What it does

Recognize Features reads a solid from a CAD file (for example STEP) and rebuilds it as an editable feature tree, such as a base Extrude, steps, holes, Fillets and Chamfers.

Where to find it

Direct Edit › Create › Recognize Features

Steps

1. Click Recognize Features.
2. Select a file in the Recognize Features from CAD window.
3. The result opens in a new Part tab, with a message summarizing the conversion.

Note: If the rebuilt shape does not match the original after verification, the program uses the original solid (with no history) instead, to stay accurate. A part with a complex shape may not get all its features.
